How long does your information stay on the Internet?

Forever - just because you can no longer find it using Google, doesn't mean it's not there.

The Internet is forever. In some ways that can be great because it means you have access to information, even if it happened decades ago. However, if you share an embarrassing photo, a dodgy opinion, or a grumpy status update, it will stick around forever as well—even when you think it’s gone.

You see, just because you can no longer find it using Google, doesn’t mean it’s not there. There is loads of information on the Internet that Google’s search engines can’t find, (what they can find is merely the tip of the iceberg – known as the surface web), the rest of the information, or iceberg, is called Deep web and can be accessed by other means.

Click here for a really interesting article about the Deep Web and how it works.

So before you post information on the Internet do the billboard test. If you wouldn’t want it posted on a billboard in town, then you probably shouldn’t be posting it on the Internet.
