Acceptable Use Policy

An acceptable use policy outlines what an employee can and can't do when using IT equipment or when accessing the Internet.

What is an acceptable use policy?

An acceptable use policy outlines what an employee can and can't do when using IT equipment or when accessing the Internet. It should be a policy that is easy to understand and clear for employees to follow. It’s increasingly common practice for businesses to require employees to sign an acceptable use policy before receiving access to the Internet or the company network. An acceptable use policy should address issues including personal safety, illegal activities, system security and access to inappropriate materials.

How do I create one?

Netsafe have a great Cybersafety Use Agreement that can be customised to your needs. Alternatively, we have a very simple Acceptable Use Policy template attached below that you might find useful.

Note: An acceptable use policy may be included as part of your security policy.
